I'm Colin Chapman, a web and UI designer from the UK.
I am the digital director at FWD Studios in charge of web design, app development and technology related projects, being the co-director having set up the business in 2015 after being a freelance web designer since 2005, I have self-taught myself coding while studying multimedia at college and continue to expand my skill set. I'm a big fan of minimalism and retro design aesthetics, animal welfare causes, coffee and all aspects of technology.
Co-owner of the design studio FWD Studios overseeing the digital side of projects and daily running of the company. Web design is my main role within the company creating websites from start to finish, setting up the digital side of projects such as servers or digital distribution and where the flow of digital products go, working with the creative director on ideas and artistic direction to take projects to fruition. A few of my roles as director cover finance, editorials, marketing, legal and more.
A course from HarvardX teaching the core understanding of contracts and what goes into creating a contract, learning key skills of building a contract, the terminology and how they are approached in courts, what forms a contract and where it goes when act upon. I achieved a final grade of 87%, the certificate can be viewed here.
Working as a freelance web designer while studding at college and free time while working in retail until setting up a company in 2015, I mainly did web designs for independent people such as portfolios or small sellers but have done projects for the local council, start-ups, managed forums, beta tested applications and provided computer maintenance.
A short lived project where I designed the web site and arranged the digital distribution, using CMS to create the site where some articles would appear and a digital version of the magazine could be brought. I wrote a few editorials before the project ended.
Studding aspects of media production from script writing to colour correction, I learnt skills in cinematography such as composition, exposure and camera effects, as well as editing using professional software. Animation tools including Flash and incorporating the techniques into web design.
Teaching web development including HTML & CSS practices as well as network support and database software, computer hardware & software installation with diagnostics. Full Microsoft Office Suite training for use in business.
